Croatia beaches are among top reasons why so many tourists visit this beautiful country. Also known as the land of a thousand islands, Croatia is a country whose long coastline offers numerous sandy and pebble beaches, sea caves and hidden coves.
So I’ve put together a list of the best beaches in Croatia. From popular vacation spots on the Adriatic, to island paradises and less known beaches visited mostly by locals.
Croatia Beaches – What To Expect
Adriatic coast with crystal clear and clean sea offers a variety of beaches. Most of them are pebbly and rocky, but there are also plenty of top rated sandy beaches to enjoy. Croatian islands, bays and reefs hide mainly stone, sand and pebble beaches.
There are lots of shade at the beach, because of the pine forests and trees typical for this part of the Mediterranean. Sea gets warm enough for swimming in June, and it stays warm throughout September. In addition, underwater visibility is great, witch makes Croatia one of the top destinations for scuba diving.
Croatia Beaches For Every Type Of Traveler
Beach resorts are located mostly on the coast, with lovely maintained beaches and tons of family-friendly activities, sports, bars and restaurants.
On the other hand, there are many hidden coves in Croatia, especially on the islands, that still hide undiscovered beaches, away from civilization and tourist crowds. So called “wild beaches” are often hard to reach, only on foot or by a boat, but totally wort the effort.
Many of the Croatian beaches have the blue flag award, a symbol of purity.
In Croatia you can also find two kinds of specialized beaches: nudist beaches, labeled as FKK, and pet-friendly beaches designed for a stress-free summer vacation with you dog.
I hope the following list of the best Croatian beaches, divided by regions and categories, will help you find your dream beach in Croatia.
